This team is responsible for developing and executing internal communications strategies that improve knowledge sharing and connectivity across one of the world’s leading investment and technology development firms. WHAT YOU'LL DO DAY-TO-DAY: • Develop internal communications strategies and programs designed to support the firm’s goals.  • Work closely with colleagues across the firm, including the firm’s leadership, to draft key business updates and strategic initiatives. • Help edit and improve communications—from firmwide announcements and blog posts to live events and videos—clearly relaying complex information to various audiences with precision and rigor.   • Support process management and creative brainstorming, from idea generation through execution.  WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR: • Bachelor’s degree and a demonstrated record of academic and professional achievement, with two to five years of communications, professional writing, and/or editorial experience. • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information effectively to a range of audiences. • Excellent organizational and project management skills, an orientation towards collaboration, the ability to manage multiple projects, and keen attention to detail. • Intellectual curiosity, collaborative instincts, and a proactive approach to sourcing and executing new ideas. • Previous experience in finance or tech is a plus but not required. • The expected annual base salary for this position is $135,000 to $165,000. Thought Leadership Associate – External Communications

OVERVIEW: The D. E. Shaw group seeks a proactive, analytical individual with proven research and communication skills to join its External Communications group as an associate on its Thought Leadership team. This team produces markets-, economics-, and tech-focused content across a range of media to support the firm’s fundraising, recruiting, and branding initiatives. The position offers the opportunity to work across the firm’s investment, strategy, and support teams in a collegial, collaborative, and engaging work environment.

WHAT YOU'LL DO DAY-TO-DAY:

• Manage the drafting and review process for content including white papers, speaking engagements and presentations, and short-form materials.

• Collaborate with individuals spanning the firm’s investment research and tech disciplines, as well as Investor Relations, Media Communications, and Legal & Compliance.

• Ideate, manage, and implement projects to support the team’s content sourcing, amplification initiatives, and infrastructure.

• Build relationships with stakeholders across the firm to identify and execute on new ideas for thought leadership.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

• A bachelor’s degree or higher and at least two to five years of experience in roles requiring impressive analytical and research abilities, written communication, and project management.

• Academic or professional experience in finance, economics, statistics, or another quantitative discipline is valued but not required; a successful candidate will demonstrate learning agility and a desire to rigorously analyze a range of problems.

• Sound collaborative ability, commitment to high standards, and well-developed writing, editing, and proofreading skills.

Marketing Communications Associate – External Communications

OVERVIEW: The D. E. Shaw group seeks a proactive, resourceful, and detail-oriented individual to join its External Communications group as an associate on its Marketing Communications team. This team produces fundraising materials and investor-focused communications that are integral to our firm’s fundraising, client service, and asset retention efforts across products. The position offers the opportunity to leverage project management and communication skills while collaborating in a collegial and dynamic environment.

WHAT YOU'LL DO DAY-TO-DAY:

• Draft, review, and edit investor-focused communications (e.g., pitch decks, client presentations, RFP responses, due diligence questionnaires) with rigor and precision in support of the firm’s current and new investment products.

• Coordinate with various groups across the firm, including investment teams, Investor Relations, Legal & Compliance, and Financial Operations.

• Ideate, manage, and implement projects to support the team’s technology/GAI initiatives and infrastructure to further its strategic growth.

• Gain significant exposure to all aspects of the firm’s investment products.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

• A bachelor’s degree or higher and at least two to five years of experience in roles requiring impressive project management, organizational, and analytical abilities.

• Exceptional attention to detail, high standards, and well-developed writing, editing, and proofreading skills.

• A process-oriented mindset, with the ability to execute short-term tasks while managing long-term projects effectively, and the desire to work as part of a team.

• Individuals who work effectively with colleagues of varying seniorities both within and outside their team are highly valued.

• Previous experience in financial services is not required, though the ability to quickly grasp financial concepts and a general interest in financial markets are both advantageous.
